So let's come up with some strategies to bring people here

Postby Tankard » Sat Feb 06, 2010 6:24 am

We should definitely invite some people from HBC and the other brew sites we've been apart of. I already invited 3 people but I haven't heard from them yet.

For some reason, the site isn't appearing on Google. Does it take some time before the Google trackers find us? Do we need to set something up with Google?

We should also create an introductory thread to explain a little bit why the site exists.

I know Flan did a fair bit of backroom stuff to get HBC onto Google search. I just don't know what he did.

Google search results will come with time and as more content is added. I don't really think that that will really help as much as word if mouth though.

Yeah, we'll have to spread the word. I doubt we'll get as many "fed up" members coming over from HBC as they receive from HBT. HBT is so much more blatant ... with the Nazi moderation and the Revvy factor. HBC is more subtle, but they do have some real assholes there who are sure to turn off a good amount of people, so hopefully we can become known to them.

I realised that I hadn't put anything in the meta tags for the keywords and description. That's been added now. That should help google figure out what this site is about.

I threw in the Blue Moon clone recipe. It's a popular search item. Not that it's going to bring in the masses, but little things that get googled might help.

Good call on the Blue Moon recipe.

Growth might be slow. I invited a few people, some haven't been online and likely haven't seen it yet, while others checked out the site and didn't register, which kind of sucks. Unfortunately most people don't see the problems with HBC like we do. HBT was shedding a ton of members and they naturally gravitated towards HBC. HBC isn't big enough yet to shed members en masse. We'll have to build the community some other way, from different sources.

Pete, any chance of snagging some AHB'ers? x, how about brews-bros? People at both sites seem pretty cool.

I don't know many people over there. It'll be fine at any rate.

I'm not too worried about it. If people want to come they will, if they don't they won't. I'm sure we'll get a some more people eventually.
